Twelve creative minds came out to gather, connect and enjoy an absolutely beautiful summer evening in the lovely and historically significant Patton Homestead. The inspirational space was made even more interesting by the invitation to take a glimpse into the Archives. Kristin Noon and Maj. Paul Cancelliere answered questions and pointed out highlights.
Learning about the Patton family's military history, vast equestrian knowledge and involvement, passion for sailing, as well as their connection to writing and storytelling was captivating for attendees to learn about. Each were given a flier with discount for future full tour of the Archives. What a wealth of history, stories, and research materials for writers.
Participants introduced themselves and shared a bit about what they were working on or hoped to work toward.
One participant shared a picture book text that she had written sparking a conversation about query letter writing and critique groups. One attendee,
Poet Ray J. Whittier, captivated the group with his recitation of three poems.
It is always a gift to gather with other writers and artists to exchange ideas, get tips and absorb creative inspiration. It felt good to applaud a few of the writers present for recent publications and theatre milestones.
Take a trip to Hamilton's Patton Homestead, where the grounds are free and open to the public daily from sunrise to sunset. Then dive into a rich and well-documented history by booking a tour of the Archives.
What a wonderful way it was to spend a summer night , and Linda's snickerdoodles and Sally's apple oatmeal loaf rounded out the treat table with style!
