The Commonwealth Pen Show: September 14th & 15th

After a year's hiatus, the Commonweath Pen Show is returning with all things pen and paper thanks to the Boston Pen People! If you'd like to learn more about the Boston Pen People, feel free to join them at their next meeting on Saturday, October 19th at 12.00 noon at the Albion Cultural Exchange (ACE), 9 Albion Street, Wakefield, MA. Until then, meet them at the pen show. Note the new location for the pen show.

Despite the unpredictable weather, we had an amazing time at Wakefield's Festival by the Lake on Saturday, June 10, 2023.  The Festival by the Lake is always a great opportunity to connect with our supporters, educate visitors about our organization and make connections in the community. This year we were fortunate to have four local authors as guests in our tent available to talk to, purchase books from and to have books signed. Local author essayist and TRtW's Coordinator for Senior & Veterans Programming Linda Malcom joined us to start the day at 10am with her collection of essays, Cornfields to Codfish . A Successful and Very Fun Youth Literacy Event!

We had so much fun bringing back our Young Writers and Illustrators Meet, Greet & Create event from its post-pandemic hibernation on Tuesday, March 12th at the Boys & Girls Club of Wakefield.  The authors who participated were,  in alphabetical order, are: Janet Costa Bates ( Rica Baptista: Llamas, Iguanas, and My Very Best Friend ), Rebecca Caprara ( Spin ), Carol Gordon Ekster ( Trucker Kid ), Betsy Ellor ( My Dog is  NOT  a Scientist ), Fred Gracely ( Misfit’s Magic ), Samantha Lewis ( Nature Activity Book for Little Ones ), Kari Percival ( How to Say Hello to a Worm ), Shawn M. Local Author Fair: Saturday, November 23rd 1-4pm

Stop by to meet and learn about some of the local authors in the area. A personalized, signed copy of a book makes a wonderful and unique gift for the holidays and birthdays. With thirteen different authors, there will be a great mix of genres and books geared towards all age groups! Be sure to be present at 2pm when there will be refreshments available and each author will have an opportunity to introduce themselves and their books so you'll get to know a little bit about each. Thank you to Karen Stern at the Wakefield Public Library for making this program possible as well as Whitelam Books for connecting authors and readers even beyond the walls of their bookstore in Reading.
